As a young child I grew up on a farm in the Shire of Cuballing, located in the wheat farming belt of Western Australia, a wild magical place full of animals, endless sunshine and wonderful adventures. My brother passionately wanted to know how everything worked and spend long hours dismantling almost everything on the farm. I wanted to learn how to create the things that my imagination dreamt up. At the age of three I wove a yellow woollen bracelet with golden buttons on it for my mother to wear to a black tie do. I had invented weaving. Only much later did I learn I wasn’t the first.
Many years, adventures and a few continents later, I moved to London. I voraciously bought art and craft books and attended countless classes on many, many subjects. Armed with the knowledge I needed to design and make everything I could imagine, I lacked the space, materials and equipment. I dreamt of a friendly place. It did not exist. I had to make it myself. Re-creation is that place and I am happy to share it with you.
