Activities

You’ve had your fill of picnics. You’re not bowled over by ten pin anymore.
Fancy dress parties are old hat. Everyone’s done the historic walks, Bingo is boring………So what else can your group or organisation arrange for your members and guests?

How about a magical, “make and create” session at London’s newest creative art space – re-creation.

re-creation is the place and space where groups come to have fun and release their hidden creative talents. Using a huge range of creative art materials turn your hand to Pottery making, painting and glazing, T Shirt painting, Jewellery making, Badge and Sign making and a host of other captivating and fun art and craft opportunities.

re-creation is perfect for groups of up to 14 people. Our talented, helpful and friendly staff will help (even novices) make and create something they’ve never done before and quite possibly didn’t think they were ever capable of.

The joy of creating is what re-creation is all about – and a fun time is guaranteed for everyone of all ages and capabilities.

Fabric, Fents and Felting.

Come in and tell us what you want to create… from machine and hand sewing ,tapestry, embroidery, through to wet and needle felting or make something with our wool felt and rovings. We can help you with machine work, on our sewing machines and overlocker, or simply get you started with a needle and thread. If you’re not sure what to create, peruse our books on textiles and fashion for inspiration.

Embroidery, Embellishment and Decoration.

Cross stitch and embroidery have been seen on fashionistas for the last few seasons. We at re-creation don’t think these crafts should be limited to a hoop. Why not design clothing, make a unique bag, or create patches that can embellish your own clothes and accessories for a quick wardrobe favourite update. If you are stuck for ideas or need support our staff can help make your idea and reality.

Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Along with beads, cords, string, chain and polymer clay, you can create your own custom-made jewellery. But be warned, jewellery making books in the library are hard to put down. One of our staff (who shall remain nameless) spent an entire night pouring over ideas!

Maybe you’ve attended a jewellery-making course but are lacking in tools. Come and use our jewellery bench, and extensive range of equipment. We have a resident jewellery making expert, so give us a call to book a session.

Bisque, Slab and Coil.

Pottery and ceramics are great crafts to get down to with friends and family. We have earthenware and stoneware clays. Contact us to book onto one of our Sunday ceramics sessions?
Just don’t wear your Sunday best!
We have an extensive range of ready-made glazed & bisque fired items (bowls, plates, mugs, cups and saucers, money boxes, etc). Discover hidden talents for decoration with our extensive range of under glazes, stencils, and painting tools. Then leave them with us to be fired, giving them a permanence and beauty that is thoroughly professional looking. Could you be the next Emma Bridgewater?

Paper, Peel-offs and Punches.

It’s amazing what you can do with a broadsheet newspaper. The ultimate in recycling, you can make baskets ranging from intricate to enormous. Pop in to see some extraordinary examples on display in our studio.
We have an assortment of cards suitable for all occasions waiting to be decorated. Extensive is not a big enough word for our range of rubber stamps, wooden blocks, paper punches, super fine glitter and embossing. We really do have everything you need, including a digital cutter to make the perfect card, invitation, thank you, or place cards.

Fashion has gone crazy for badges, so come in make a selection of your very own “on trend” badges to update your clothing and accessories. Or you may want to try your hand at personalising fridge magnets, purse mirrors, bottle openers or keyings. The choice is yours.

Melt, Pour and Fizz.

Experiment with colours and evocative scents to create beautiful candles, soap and bath bombs. A great fun, hands-on activity for friends, or a useful opportunity to create unique wedding favours and great gifts! Contact us to arrange a session (minimum of four people).

Loops, Braids, Knots and Beads.

An ancient Japanese craft, kumihimo is the art of making a beautiful, intricate braid. Weaving a sophisticated kumihimo bracelet or necklace is surprisingly easy. Once you grasp the basic technique you can create elaborate beaded designs, in a wide array of colours, widths and fibres.
Knitting, crocheting, macramé has seen a huge resurgence in popularity. Try one of our workshops to learn the basics, or to pick the brains of a seasoned knitter.

Splash, Splatter and Sprinkle.

We have an assortment of papier mâché and wooden objects to decorate, which are extremely popular with children and adults. Using paint, glitter or decoupage, from a wooden jewellery box to an elaborate stags head, this really is a one-size-fits-all activity. Perfect for an extended family occasion.

T-shirts

…are the most essential items in anyone’s wardrobe. Make a statement. Paint, embellish, print or go vinyl for a thoroughly professional finish. We have all the machinery, stencils, colours and sizes you need to make something uniquely you.
